A message from our PTA President, Jill Reese...
At the May 12th General Membership meeting, elections will
be held for the 2010-2011 school year. Currently there are 3 people on the ballot for 1st Vice President, 2nd Vice President,
and for Corresponding Secretary. Any member can be nominated from the floor the night of the election for these positions
or for Treasurer and Secretary. According to our bylaws only members that have been on the board previously can run for WVPTA
President. I have included the descriptions for the board positions.
If you are elected to the board, there are opportunities
for training. OJR PTA Council has New Officer training following their meeting on May 18th and PAPTA has a day of training
in Allentown on July 24th. If your experiences and talents can help our PTA, please consider stepping up and running
for one of our Executive Board positions.
The President - Runs all WVPTA meetings, represents the school at OJR council,
serves on all committees except for nominating committee, the electing committee, and the auditing committee (if authorized
to sign checks).
1st and 2nd
Presidents act as aides to the president and perform the president's duties in the president's
absence or inability to serve.
The Recording Secretary should record the minutes of all meetings, maintain the current copy of the bylaws
and membership list, present a written copy of the previous meetings records at each meeting, and have at each meeting written
records of the previous 12 meetings.
The Treasurer shall have custody of and maintain a full account of the funds of WVPTA,
Submit dues, provide a written financial statement to the executive board at each meeting, present an annual report of the
financial condition to membership, have accounts examined annually, have books available for inspection when requested.
Corresponding Secretary
handles all thank you notes/correspondence on behalf of the PTA and shares notes received.
