Coming to Your School!

What ?               Girls on the Run and Girls on Track are after school programs that use the power of running to help prepare girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living.  Through fun, interactive activities such as running, playing games, and discussing important issues, participants learn how to celebrate being girls.  The program focuses on building self-esteem and improving emotional and physical health.  During the 11 week program, girls are empowered with a greater self-awareness, a sense of achievement and a foundation in team building to help them become strong, contented, and self-confident young women.  The program ends with the girls participating in the Kennett Run on May 15.

When?               Girls on the Run/Track will meet 2 times a week from March 1 through May 14.

Who?                  Girls in 3rd - 8th grade can participate.  They will be led by trained Girls on the Run coaches through specific life lessons dealing with such things as body image, resisting peer pressure, making healthy decisions, and contributing to the community.  Team size will be limited to 12 girls.

How?                  Registration will begin January 15  at 7:00am at the Phoenixville YMCA.  Cost is $140.00 for YMCA members and $160 for members. Cost includes t-shirt, water bottle, race registration & lots of other fun stuff!  Financial assistance is available.

This program is provided by Girls on the Run International thru the YMCA.
