West Vincent Blood Drive
The WV Wellness committee is proud to inform you of our very successful Blood
Drive yesterday, in honor of 3rd grade student Reagan Amand!
We had 52 registered,
43 eligible and we collected 44 units of blood. If you read that carefully, you are probably wondering how we collected more
units and persons eligible. It is possible to donate a double, if additional requirements are met and the process takes a
bit longer. Thank you to EVERYONE who was interested in donating as well as those who
were actually able to donate. Please share your positive stories of donating with others. I really thought the Coach Van was
a lovely environment to donate, especially for first time donors. You will receive a card in the mail with your blood type
and cholesterol level in several weeks. The Amand family was very grateful to all of you
and others who donated blood in honor of their daughter Reagan. We hope to plan other
blood drives in the future.
Thank you again for your gracious gift of life!!

Girls on the
Run is a life-changing after school program. The 11-week program for girls in 4th to 6th grade meets twice a week for

among running sessions that steadily increase toward the length of a 5K. The spring Girls on the Run program culminates

The Wellness committee is sponsoring Apple
Crunch Day on Wednesday October 28th to commemorate National Apple Month.
This is to remind
kids that there are healthy choices available as an alternative to all the candy they will be receiving for Halloween.
Every student and faculty member will receive a apple on Apple Crunch Day from the Wellness Committee.
Here
are a few snack ideas to have as a break from all the candy... *Make "apple-pops" by freezing apple juice in small paper cups with popsicle
sticks (spray cups with vegetable oil spray) *Make a cheesy smile
by melting a piece of cheese on an apple slice *Freeze applesauce,
then whip it up in the blender for an apple "slushie" *Add
sliced apples instead of jelly on a PBJ

Committee!
