Volunteer at West Vincent

One of the things that makes West Vincent Elementary a great school is our amazing PTA and all the many opportunities for parent and teacher involvement! Each of our committees needs volunteers to get the job done.

There are volunteer opportunities that will meet every personality type and every time or schedule constraint there’s something for everyone! If you have any questions, please contact Siobhan Hummel.

If you'd like to help with specific events, please check the box(es) for those you are interested in.
All Pro Dad
Bi-monthly monthly breakfast for students and their dads. During this time, they discuss a wide range of family topics, spend time together, create fun memories and strengthen their relationship. Volunteers help set up the breakfast/break-down the breakfast between 7-8 am.
Auditing
This committee meets in the summer to review the financial books of the PTA to certify accuracy of the records and to assure membership that resources and funds are being managed within the regulations.
Back To School Bash
This is a fun celebration at the school for the start of the new school year! Families are invited to attend to reconnect with school friends. Volunteers are needed for shifts throughout the event to help in various roles.
Bingo Night
This is a family fun night! We gather to eat and play bingo and raffle prizes. Volunteers are needed to set up, clean up and secure prizes.
Book Fair
A week-long event in the fall and spring that requires both daytime volunteers and evening volunteers. For those volunteering during the day, it’s a great opportunity to spend time with the children and teachers.
Box Tops
The school receives money and items for turning in General Mills box tops. Volunteers are needed to collect and submit the items to the appropriate company. Sometimes volunteers are just needed to help count the collected box tops. Ongoing through school year.
Community Garden
Volunteers help tend to our vegetable garden during the school year and throughout the summer.
Family Art Night
Family Art Night is a free event for families to come to the school and create a work of art! Volunteers are needed for setup and check-in. This event takes place in November and April.
Master Minds Game Club
A new volunteer will be needed for the 2018-2019 school year to take over for a parent that is moving on to Middle School. The volunteers monitor the students during the club hours and help with game play. Anyone interested can talk to our current volunteers to see what is needed and maybe attend a session to see what it's all about.
Outdoor Classroom
Volunteers are needed to work with the staff to care for the garden and plan possible activities. This is ongoing through the school year.
Pancake Breakfast
Volunteers are needed to help at the Pancake Breakfast: servers, expediters, hosts. Training takes place the morning of the breakfast.
Publishing Center
Turn our students’ stories and class projects into keepsakes. Duties include typing on the computer, using desktop publishing, working with the students and binding the finished projects. Publishing Center is open throughout the school year.
Reflections Art Contest
This program, sponsored by the National PTA, encourages children to use art to express themselves. Volunteers are needed for their area of expertise: literature, dance choreography, visual arts, music, photography or film. This is a singular event and volunteering would occur in September/October.
Talent Show
Excellent opportunity to help the kids show off their talents. Help is needed to organize, screen and schedule the event.
Yearbook
Volunteers are needed from each class to collect photos and forward to yearbook chair. Additionally, volunteers assist the chair in assembling and editing the yearbook pages.
Website
A new communications chair will be needed for the 2018-2019 school year. Anyone interested can begin to work with the current chairperson to see what is done.
Wildcat Walk-a-thon
Volunteers are needed to help with this event in the fall.
