Welcome Letter from our PTA President

Welcome Back WVE Families!

On behalf of the entire PTA board, I welcome your family to the 2019-2020 school year and invite you to take part in the many exciting events planned for the upcoming year.

The year is already off to a great start with the first PTA-sponsored event, Chalk the Walk. Special thanks to the parents who wrote inspirational messages and drew beautiful images. Our teachers and students did a double-take with every step! Everyone loved it, and I encourage you to take a look at the photos, as well as the first-day-of school photos, on the West Vincent PTA Facebook page!

Our second PTA-sponsored event of the year is Back to School Bash, which will be held on

Friday, September 6th from 5:30 - 7:30 pm. This annual event is a great way to meet up with friends and many WV teachers and staff. There will be food trucks, a DJ, a photo booth, a dunk tank, and new spirit
wear. You can also take a peek at the new playground equipment purchased with some of the money raised at last year's PTA Wildcat Walk-a-Thon. I also encourage you to stop by the PTA information table to meet the members of our current board, learn more about membership, and get get involved in the upcom- ing events. The PTA board is very excited about the upcoming year, and we are happy to share our plans with you!

We are already working on the 3rd Annual Wildcat Walk-a-Thon, and we plan to make it bigger and better than ever. The PTA's plans for the year also include All Pro Dad Breakfasts, Bingo Nights, Art Nights, a Retro Movie Night, Book Fairs, the Daddy Daughter Dance, school assemblies, after-school programs and more.

Just like year’s past, the PTA listened to what you want and in addition to the dozens of well-loved activities we have had in the past, we have added a few new events including a Mother/Son Trivia Night, an After- School Fitness Club, and an all-new Drama Club (culminating in a stage show!) Details about many of these things will be coming soon or can be found on our website.

The PTA has so much to offer this year. We encourage you to read the PTA Sunday email, join the West Vin- cent PTA Facebook page, and visit our website (www.westvincentpta.org) to stay up to date on the many programs and events offered by the PTA. On our website you can become a member for the 2019-2020 school year, make an “unfundraiser” donation, read about all our programs, sign up to volunteer and more!

Lastly, our first PTA meeting of the year is Tuesday, September 17th at 7:00 pm in the school library. I strongly encourage you to come to the meeting, share your ideas, and hear about what we have planned. Attendance does not mean you are required to volunteer! If I can be of any help to you this year, send me an email at cindyhutcheson2007@gmail.com.

Looking forward to another great year at WV!

2019 Wildcat Walk-a-Thon

-- Scroll down for donation form --

The West Vincent Elementary PTA will host the annual Wildcat Walk-a-Thon on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 (rain date is Friday, October 18, 2019).  This event combines fitness, fun and fundraising to encourage kids to help raise money to support the many PTA programs they and their families enjoy throughout the school year.

On the day of the event, all West Vincent students and staff will walk outside for 30 minutes.  They will be pumped up by music from a DJ, inspired to keep moving by motivational signs and treated to some fun surprises.  The student from each grade who has raised the most money by the day of the event, will be invited to lead the walk and hold the official Wildcat Walk-a-Thon banner with our mascot, Willie the Wildcat.   All walk participants will be eligible to win prizes.  A week after the walk, various raffle prizes will be awarded, and the top overall fundraiser and top fundraising class, will be awarded special prizes.

If we reach our $20,000 goal, there will be a special surprise for ALL students. If we reach $27,500, we will get an even more amazing surprise. Last year our Principal, Mr. Smith, had a cooler of sports drink dumped on his head! And, of course, all students win because the money makes more programming possible!

To make a donation to the Wildcat Walk-a-Thon, complete the form listed below:

Help us welcome back students, teachers, and staff to West Vincent Elementary this school year by joining us as we "CHALK THE WALK." We are looking for ten parents to help us draw welcoming pictures, quotes, paw prints, and positive sayings on the sidewalks all around the school. Since this is meant to be a surprise, NO KIDS PLEASE. Due to events in the area, you must be signed in to be allowed on the school grounds at the time of this event.

Support the Students of West Vincent with an Unfundraiser Donation

Support the Students of West Vincent Elementary School with an Unfundraiser Donation!

What is the Unfundraiser?

Gone are the days of selling gift wrap, magazines and coupon books! Our non-selling approach to fundraising allows 100% of your contribution to go directly to the West Vincent PTA.

This year, we will again run a check-writing campaign called the Unfundraiser. We have received favorable feedback and would like to continue to use the Unfundraiser to meet the majority of our school's fundraising goals.

In addition to the Unfundraiser, we will also have the Wildcat Walk-a-thon and Book Fair that, together, will support the many great PTA-sponsored programs without the need for the small ticket sales of products.

What your donation provides?

When considering contributing to this campaign, remember every child at West Vincent benefits from your donation! Your gift supports great programs such as:

  • Arts Programs

  • Field Trips

  • School technology

  • Publishing Center

  • School assemblies

  • Curriculum stipends for teachers

  • Annual philanthropic gift to the school

  • Student activities and clubs including the Reflections art contest, International Night, West Vincent's Got Talent, All Pro Dads breakfasts, Reading incentives and Bingo Nights

Is my donation tax deductible?

Yes, your donation is 100% tax deductible. The West Vincent PTA is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Donations are also eligible for Corporate Matching Programs.

When donating online, you will receive an emailed receipt from Paypal. Or if you prefer to send a check into the school office, just let us know if a receipt is needed.

Who donates to the Unfundraiser?

The West Vincent PTA would love 100% participation this year!  Any donation is greatly appreciated. Every dollar supports the numerous programs for the students at West Vincent Elementary School. Any donor that contributes $100 or more will be recognized on this PTA website as a Wildcat Donor!

Remember to let grandparents, aunts, uncles and family members know about our Unfundraiser if they would typically help out your child’s school.

Can I send in a check donation?

Yes, of course! If you would prefer to send a check, please print the Unfundraiser Donation Form [pdf] and return it to the school office in an envelope labeled "PTA Unfundraiser".

Any questions? Please contact Alan Scholl, our Unfundraiser Chair.

FINAL PTA GENERAL MEETING OF THE SCHOOL YEAR
Join us for the last PTA meeting of the school year on Tuesday, June 4 at 7:00 pm in the WVES library.  This is a great way to know what is going on at WV and how you can help.

READING INCENTIVE
If you participate in the PTA Reading Incentive program, please be sure to turn in your completed May calendars on Monday so you can get your surprise before the end of the school year!  Calendars can be printed at https://www.westvincentpta.org/reading-incentive.  Special thanks to Amy Shumaker for chairing the program this year!  And keep reading this summer.

ARE YOU INTERESTED IN HELPING?
It takes a lot of volunteers and leaders to make the many events and after-school programs the PTA puts on happen.  If you are interested in being a chairperson of an event, please contact Cindy Hutcheson, cindyhutcheson2007@gmail.com. We would be happy to share information about the many ways you can help in the next school year!

If you would like your name removed from this email list , please reply back to this email and let me know, I will have your email address removed from our list.

I would like to take this time to let you know that this will be my last email for the West Vincent PTA.  Jimmy will be moving on to middle school, so my time at West Vincent is over. Having sent these emails and updating the website for the past 7 years, I'm sure it will feel like I'm forgetting something on Sunday nights for a little while! You'll be in good hands - Elly Hensman will take over the Communications piece for the PTA.  Thank you for being so kind over the years!!!

Finally...
Monday is Day 1.
Have a great final week of school!!
